DAY 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa

On your arrival at Addis Ababa bole international airport you will be welcomed by your tour guide from Landmark Ethiopia Tours. Then you will be transferred to your hotel. After a rest and refresh at the hotel, in the afternoon your guide will take you around the highlights of Addis. Founded in 1887 by Emperor Menelik II and Queen Taitu, Addis Ababa is the third highest capital of the world at an altitude of 2300-2500 m. with a pleasant climate. The tour starts with a visit to the National Museum to view a replica of the famous, 3.2 million-year-old fossilized hominid remains known to the rest of the world as “Lucy”. The visit also includes Ethnological Museum at Addis Ababa University, the Holy trinity cathedral and you will enjoy a panoramic view of the capital with fresh air on top of Mount Entoto and end the tour with the bustling Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market. Overnight- Hotel in Addis Ababa.

 

DAY 2: Addis Ababa → Dinsho

In the morning you will drive to Dinsho, via the Ethiopian rift valley region and shashemene (400km from Addis). Enroute you will make a stop on a lake Ziway, known for its bird life to, visit aquatic birds. Also visit Abijatta Shalla Park. You will have lunch at Shashemene (250 km from Addis).You will proceed driving and arrive in Dinsho late afternoon. After a short break, you will have time to make a short hike along the woodland part of the national park and you will have a chance to spot endemic Mountain Nyala, Menelik Bushbuck, Bohor Reedbuck and bird species. Overnight - Lodge or Camping in Dinsho.

 

DAY 3: Dinsho → Sodota

Trek for 5 – 6 hours pass through the lovely web valley and outstanding the beautiful waterfall. Here there is a chance to see raptors and Ethiopian Wolf. Overnight Sodota campsite.

 

DAY 4: Sodota → Meraro Valley→ Wassema

Trek for 5 -6 hours breath taking of Meraro valley which offers the chance to see the nests of Lammergeyer and Verreaux Eagle. The air here is so clean and crisp and the scenery utterly stunning. Camping at the base of Wassema mount. Overnight - Wassema Campsite.

 

DAY 5: Wassema → Gerbaguracha

Today we trek through the highlands of Bale Mountains crossing Batu Mountain (4307 m asl) on the way to Gerbaguracha. Here The Helichrysum or everlasting flowers are abundant. The everlasting plant can be seen in several forms, but the grey bushes of Helichrysum splendidum are the most striking with their yellow flowers. Several rodent species are found in the area. Overnight – Gerbaguracha Campsite.

 

Day 6: Gerbaguracha→ Sanetti Plateau → Goba

After breakfast we trek for two to three hours to the main road to met vehicle then drive to the highest peak in Bale Mountains, Tullu Dimtu (4377m, 14357 ft) which is part of the Sanetti plateau. The vistas are simply unbelievable and so photogenic. Here you will find endangered Ethiopian wolf, small alpine lakes and typical afro alpine vegetation that include the Giant Lobelia and shrub such as everlasting. Finally drive to Goba for overnight stay. Overnight – Hotel in Goba.

 

DAY 7: Goba → Awassa

After an early morning breakfast you will drive to Awassa. Awassa is the capital of Sothern Nation Nationalities and peoples region and located 276km from the capital. The city is famous for its beautiful lake. You can have a walk around the lake to see different birds like Heron, Storks, Cormorants, King fisher and Goose. Overnight- Hotel in Awassa.

 

DAY 8: Awassa → Addis Ababa & Departure

In the morning you will visit the scenic morning Fish market in Awassa where the fisher man sell his fresh Tilapia, Catfish, and Barbus whereas Pelicans and Storks are competing to take the left over. You can also spot Black and White Colobus monkey around the Amora Gedel. En route 50km before Addis Ababa visit the crater lakes of Debre Zeit. Make last minute shopping in Addis and then in the evening you will have fare well dinner in one of the Ethiopian cultural restaurant with tasty Ethiopian food and cultural dances from the different ethnic groups. Then transfer to the airport for flight back home. The tour ends here.
